1. The club began life as “Boscombe” in 1899. They take their club colours from AC Milan, who were founded in the same year.
2. Bournemouth reached the second tier for the first time in their history in 1987. Harry Redknapp was the boss who took them there.
3. With the club in dire financial straits, former player and club icon Eddie Howe took charge in 2009. He would mastermind their meteoric rise from the fourth tier to the Premier League in just six years.
4. Howe left the club after relegation in 2020, with star defender Nathan Ake also moving on.
5. Their main rivals are Southampton, but they also count Portsmouth and Brighton games as derbies.

1. Founded in 1810 at the mouth of the River Bourne, Bournemouth is a relatively young town.
2. Its founder, Lewis Tregonwell, planted hundreds of pine trees along the coast in an attempt to turn it into a health spa.
3. JRR Tolkien took his summer holiday in Bournemouth every year, Robert Louis Stevenson penned Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde whilst resident, and Frankenstein author Mary Shelley is buried in the town.
4. Bournemouth was the first place in the UK to introduce CCTV. Rather aptly, this happened in 1984.
5. Nowadays, tourists flock to Bournemouth in summer for its beaches and nightlife.
