1. Although they are known as the “Hornets”, the hart of “Hertfordshire” county appears on the club crest.
2. Pop legend Elton John oversaw the most successful period in the club’s history after taking over as chairman in 1976. He still partly owns the club.
3. His best decision was his first, appointing future England manager Graham Taylor, who took the Hornets from the fourth division to top flight runners up in 1983 and the final of the FA Cup in 1984.
4. Club record scorer Luther Blissett’s name has been adopted as a popular pseudonym for artists and activists seeking anonymity as part of the mysterious “Luther Blissett Project”.
