Salernitana get into a rap battle with local rivals Avellino

FIVE FACTS ABOUT US SALERNITANA 1919
1. The seahorse on the club badge was the idea of a local painter who saw a little seahorse trying to escape a fisherman’s net at the port.
2. Salernitana have already gone bankrupt twice in the 21st century.
3. A 2019 upgrade massively increased the Stadio Arechi’s capacity, making it the eighth largest in Italy.
4. Salernitana was owned by Lazio owner Claudio Lotito until he was forced to sell up in 2021; Serie A rules sensibly preclude one person from owning two clubs in the same division.
5. Salernitana’s main Campania rivals are Avellino, Cavese and the mighty Napoli.
