1. Club supporters are proud of the Greek roots of the city and frequently make reference to Magna Grecia (Greater Greece), of which Crotone was one of the principle cities.
2. It took Crotone 90 years to reach Serie B for the first time in 2000 and another 16 to reach the top flight.
3. Crotone’s location by the sea in the “foot” of Italy gave rise to their nickname of “The Sharks”.
4. A hospital with rooms overlooking the stadium often has to turn away “sick” visiting fans when the tickets are sold out.
5. Crotone contest the “Greater Greece derby” with Reggina and the “Derby of the ex-province of Catanza” (a bit of a mouthful) with Benevento.

1. Crotone began life as Kroton, an important Greek colony.
2. The great Olympic wrestler Milo, who was eaten by wolves whilst tearing a tree in half, was from here.
3. Pythagoras was also a native and founded his school in the city. It is questionable as to whether he actually came up with his theorem for measuring a triangle though.
4. Crotone has been conquered by many different states, both ancient and modern. Hannibal spent three winters here on one of his campaigns.
5. In recent times, it has struggled economically due to a lack of jobs and a devastating flood in 1996.
