FIVE FACTS ABOUT AC MONZA
1. The club began life as Monza FBC in 1912 after a merger of two local sides, Pro Monza and Pro Italia.
2. Their home game against Hellas Verona in 1955 was the first Italian match to be televised for free.
3. Monza won the 1976 Anglo-Italian Cup, defeating Wimbledon in the final.
4. Former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi became the owner in 2018, leading the club to Serie A for the first time in their history.
5. Their biggest rivals are Como, but they also consider Pisa and Pro Sesto as such.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT MONZA
1. The city’s name derives from Modoetia (Now Yes). A passing dove told the then Queen of Lombardy, Theodolinda, “modo” (now) was the right time to build a chapel, to which she replied “etiam” (yes).
2. The chapel is now part of the picturesque “Monza Cathedral”, which is not actually a cathedral.
3. The “cathedral” stores the “Iron Crown”, which was used to crown medieval monarchs of Italy and Lombardy.
4. Monza Park, built during the city’s Napoleonic occupation, is the largest walled park in Europe.
5. It is so large that it encompasses an entire Formula 1 circuit, the historic home of the Italian Grand Prix.
