FIVE FACTS ABOUT TSG 1899 HOFFENHEIM
1. Although the club was founded in 1899, it experienced little success until Dietmar Hopp began investing in it in 2000 when the club was in the fifth division.
2. Hopp had played for the club as a teenager before making his billions with software giant SAP.
3. Plans to merge with other local teams to form FC Heidelberg fell through, but the club made it to the Bundesliga under its own steam in 2008.
4. Talents such as Roberto Firmino and all-time top scorer Andrej Kramaric helped Hoffenheim’s continued rise, culminating in Champions League football under Julian Nagelsmann.
5. Like RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim are hated by many in Germany as a “plastic club”. Protests against Dietmar Hopp have led to two suspended games. These centred on the club’s exemption from the 50 plus 1 rule.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT HOFFENHEIM/SINSHEIM
1. Hoffenheim’s stadium capacity is ten times the size of Hoffenheim’s population; it is a village of just 3,000 people.
2. The village is part of the larger town of Sinsheim. The PreZero Arena is actually located in Steinsfurt.
3. Although only 30 kilometres distant, do not confuse Hoffenheim with Hockenheim, the famous German GP track.
4. Sinsheim does, however, boast the largest permanent exhibition of F1 cars in the world at its “Technik Museum”.
5. Sinsheim is the birthplace of US Civil War General Franz Sigel, who specialised in recruiting German immigrants to his army.
