FIVE FACTS ABOUT UDINESE CALCIO
1. Since the more illustrious Bianconeri, Juventus, are the “zebras”, Udinese are the “little zebras”.
2. The greatest player to represent them was Zico, “the white Pele”, who spent a couple of seasons here.
3. Although they have never won a major domestic or continental competition, they have won 3 defunct European trophies: the Intertoto Cup, the Mitropa Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
4. They reached the Champions League for the first and only time in 2004/2005, the first season Antonio Di Natale, their all-time leading scorer, spent at the club.
5. Their main rivals are Triestina, from the rival city of Trieste.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT UDINE
1. Udine is the capital of Friuli, a culturally distinct area of Northeast Italy bordering Slovenia, where Friulian is spoken.
2. The hill upon which the castle is located was built from soil carried in the helmets of Attila the Hun’s soldiers, as the area was too flat for a fortification.
3. Udine was the centre of command for the Italian forces in World War I up until the disastrous Battle of Caporetto.
4. The city has a large Ghanaian community; Stephen Appiah, Kwadwo Asamoah, Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari have all played for Udinese.
5. Enzo Bearzot never played for or coached the Zebretti, but Italy’s 1982 World Cup winning manager was born here.
