FIVE FACTS ABOUT AS ROMA’S HISTORY
1. AS Roma was created through a merger of capital clubs forced through by the fascist party. Lazio refused to comply.
2. The she-wolf on the badge is a reference to Romulus and Remus, the mythical founders of Rome.
3. Although the club had won plenty of domestic honours previously, it was not until 2022 that they claimed their first major European trophy, the inaugural Europa Conference League.
4. Roma’s undisputed hero is local boy Francesco Totti, the archetypal one club man who leads the club in both appearances and goals after his 25 years of service.
5. Roma share the Stadio Olimpico with Lazio, against whom they contest the “capital derby”. Both sides are currently making plans to create their own stadium.
