1. The choice of purple and the source of the club nickname (“La Viola”) dates back to a laundry mishap in 1929 when the colours on the jerseys ran.
2. La Viola’s anthem was written by a 12-year-old in 1930, making it one of the oldest in the world.
3. Fiorentina’s golden era came in the 1950s and 1960s, when they won the scudetto twice, the Coppa twice and the now defunct Cup Winners Cup.
4. Club captain Davide Astori tragically passed away just before an away game aged just 31 in 2018.
