FIVE FACTS ABOUT LEICESTER CITY
1. Leicester are known as the Foxes due to the large number of foxes in the area, which were once hunted. Their mascot is Filbert Fox.
2. Although Leicester had previously managed to finish second in the league, reach the FA Cup final and claim three league cups, the acquisition of the club by the Thai King Power group in 2010 marked the start of a new era.
3. Their highly improbable 2015/2016 Premiership title came straight after they had narrowly avoided relegation. They had just 19 points from 29 games in April before winning 7 of their last 9 to survive.
4. The club owner was tragically killed in 2018 when his helicopter crashed just after taking off from the pitch. His son took over the chairmanship.
5. The club anthem is the unusual Post Horn Gallop, which is played on the post horn (a forerunner of the cornet), the symbol of post offices in many countries of the world.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT LEICESTER
1. Leicester’s history goes back at least 2,000 years. Known as Ratae under the Romans, it was a stopping point along the Fosse Way, which linked Exeter and Lincoln
2. Simon de Montfort, who called two parliaments in opposition to the rule of Henry III, was the Earl of Leicester. Despite massacres of Jews under his watch, the local university is still named after him.
3. The last king of England to die in battle, Richard III, is buried in Leicester Cathedral.
4. Leicester is synonymous with Walkers Crisps, who used to sponsor the club and the stadium. Footballing legend Gary Lineker, who is also a local, famously advertised their wares.
5. Other notable people from Leicester include the Attenborough brothers, Kasabian, Lady Jane Grey and the travel agent, Thomas Cook.
