There’s nothing quite like reading a book in a foreign language for a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. It’s also an excellent way to boost your vocabulary and it helps you make more natural collocations when speaking.

Reading Harry Potter in another language is admittedly a bit of a cliché, but Japanese is the first language I actually did it in. I looked up one word per page and noted down both the kanji and hiragana so your reading flow doesn’t get interrupted too much should you wish to follow in my footsteps.

Just so you know what standpoint I was attacking it from, I had passed the N2 exam and was trying to get my reading speed up to scratch for N1. In the end, I decided N2 was enough for me, as I was planning on leaving Japan and devoting time to Korean was more important.
