Smalling is making no small contribution to Roma at both ends as he picked up another goal and clean sheet but they remain behind Cagliari, who threw away two points in a crazy final ten which saw three red cards issued and two goals conceded. In the battle of the underperforming giants, Napoli and AC shared the spoils in a result that’s not much use to either. Parma also picked up a point in Bologna and remain in the top ten alongside a defensively resolute Verona, who shut out La Viola. SPAL and Genoa’s game ended in a draw that leaves them both in the bottom three after Ranieri engineered 3 points for Samp against Udinese.

Hoffenheim’s five game winning run ended in unceremonious fashion as a Mainz side reduced to ten men incredibly ran out 5-1 winners at the PreZero.
